Need a "Smart" Search & Replace Program

I have about 700 HTML files that the developer coded wrong. There is a line of code that calls for a Flash file that doesn't exist, and the pages therefore do not run in Firefox (amazingly, they do run in IE).

What I need to do is replace that bad filename (let's call it "badfile.swf") with each HTML page's name (for example, 1.html would use 1.swf, 2.html uses 2.swf, and so on). I need a program that can do a search and replace all occurences of "badfile.swf" with something like "$filename.swf" and have the text changed automatically. Otherwise, I'd have to manually change the text in all 700 or so HTML pages.

Anyone know of anything that can do this function?

I dont see where that allows for a variable string as the replacement text.

Do you have access to a machine with UNIX or OS X?

So you are using a different flash file for each page x 700? Wow! Good luck!
