Which Cable Modem?

I am getting tired of renting the modem from my cable company, and I see the modems themselves are coming down in price.

I am right now considering a D-Link DCM-202 or a Motorola Surfboard SB5120 .

I have been using a surfboard for a couple of years (the rental) and have had no problems. However the D-Link is $20 cheaper than the surfboard. The D-Link has decent reviews, but there are a portion of reviews that say it needs to be reset frequently. Also I think maybe I could plug in the Surfboard with less problems.

Does anybody have an opinion on either of these, or a better prospect?
Thanks!

Surfboard will just work. It's a little more expensive, but no firmware upgrades are required. I bought one and it works perfect.

Well, 100% for the surfboard, so I ordered it from newegg. It came to almost $59 shipped, which was cheaper then CC and no rebate.

That's a pretty good price for the Surfboard.

I bought the Motorola Surfboard SB4200 from Circuit City for $100 3 years ago with a $100 rebate for signing up for Comcast High-Speed Internet.

Well, my modem finally arrived. Stupid Labor Day!

Should I be able to unplug my other modem and plug this one in?
1) Do I need to run the installation CD, since the modem goes to a wireless router?
2) Is there something the cable company will need to do to allow me access?

Thanks for your help.
