trying to dl videos from google video: please help!

Using KeepVid...

The download starts up fine, all goes well, until an error stating "server timeout" or something to that effect...I've tried downloading numerous videos, and I get this error every time (the videos are somewhat large, like 225 + megs).

Anyone know any way to avoid getting these timeout errors?

those sites probably aren't equipped to download large files. if you want it in avi, do what i do. download the video from google. open it with notepad and paste the url in there in a browser. it will download the avi.

Yes I did. Did you read mine?

If keepvid doesn't work, might as well at least give videodownloader a try.

well, i found a work-around...

i installed google video player, then downloaded the video as a .gvi file.

then i used a gvi conversion program, which converted the file into an .avi file.

works great! and no need to d/l the file twice!

I haven't had any problems with videodownloader... even got a Firefox plugin. And no downloading files twice. Can use tons of sites, not just Google video.

have you tried downloading files over 400+ megs?

i tried using videodownloader and keepvid, and both eventually give a server timeout error...so that isn't an option for me.

Which files are they? Links? I'd be interested in looking at videos that long.

you can seach by topic and then narrow the search to small, medium, and large files.

good luck!
