Is There Any Free Pc To Phone Programs?

I downloaded skype only to realize you STILL have to pay to call landlines. It's free to call pc to pc but I'm out of minutes on my cell phone so I need a cheap alternative when that happens. Are any of you aware of such a service where you can use your pc to call landlines for free? Thanks

Skype is free until the end of the year. It says you have to buy credits but try to make a landline call from it and it will go thru. It says it's free on their website but not on the program itself. I don't use it though because the person you are talking to sounds like they are stuck at the bottom of a mineshaft.

Are you using a country code? For the US you have to put a +1 infront of the number.

Make sure you use the proper format - just dial "+1XXXXXXXXXX" and it should work for any domestic call.

I got that message when the free service was first released but it has gone away by its self and now making calls works fine
