Installing Directx 9.0c, Windows authentication problem

I can't install Directx 9.0c on my pc b/c the version of Win XP i have failed the authentication process.

I have to pay $150 for the valid key, but that's way out of mind... I don't mind paying $50 or so for a student version or something. Besides, the darn Win XP came with the PC i brought while back.

So, to question is, did anybody bypassed the authentication process when installing directx 9.0c?

Sorry if this topic is already posted and discussed. I couldn't find the posts...

thanks in advance!

You can buy XP home edition upgrade from bestbuy for $50 - get that. If you have the pro version, then you may just want to install this version instead and save yourself $$$

Depending on the brand of PC, the Windows authenication key may be on a label on your case.

Hmmm, i doubt it will work, b/c i tried the redistrubtion version from another site (i.e. download the file and install instead of "updating" using internet connection) and it doesn't work, still failing on the authentication part.

Actually, the game disc i have also have the DirectX 9.0c installation file and that don't work either (again failed on authentication).

Knowing that it won't work, i tried it anyway... well, it doesn't work

Darn, running out of ideas... this is dumb, even if i do get a licensed Win XP, that still means times to install it and tweak it. For god's sake, that's alot of times and effort, *sigh*

I think if you follow the links that they give when they tell you you are not genuine, you can buy just the registration key, so you won't have to reinstall windows.

Looks like the XP that came with your PC wasn't legit.

There's not much else we can help you with other than the advice to get a legit version or don't use Directx 9.0c.
