I have a pretty good size house were the Wireless Router is on one end and the computer i want to connect on the other.
The router and usb wireless card are both G.

What can i do to extend the signal?

You can get a smaller home.

Or get a range extender, such as this one: http://www.netgear.com/products/details/WGX102.php.
I haven't used one and don't know how well it works.
