Excel TAB Problem

When you enter data in a cell and press the Tab key, it will move the cursor one cell to the right. And that's how it's always been. Until about a couple weeks ago. Now when I hit tab, it goes from cell A1 to cell T1. If I have the Help Window opened on the right side (and the spreadsheet window is smaller), then when I hit tab, it goes from A1 to Q1.

How can I fix this?

I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2 with all the latest updates; Microsoft Excel 2003. I got no macros running.

According to a Microsoft page (http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/as...16591033.aspx), these are the various functions for TAB:

*******************************************
TAB Moves one cell to the right in a worksheet.
Moves between unlocked cells in a protected worksheet.
Moves to the next option or option group in a dialog box.
SHIFT+TAB moves to the previous cell in a worksheet or the previous option in a dialog box.
CTRL+TAB switches to the next tab in dialog box.
CTRL+SHIFT+TAB switches to the previous tab in a dialog box.
*******************************************

So, did you by accident protect your worksheet? If so, try the following:
Select "Tools", then "Protection" and then "Unprotect sheet".

Just guessing. Let us know if it works.

I wish that were the case.

My problem occurs all the time, even in a brand new workbook.

Fix

The feature to allow page tabbing is turned on, instead of cell tabbing. To
correct this go to the Tools menu -> Options -> Transition Tab - make sure that the Transition Navigation Keys box is not checked.

Hopefully namja's 2+ year torment of living with this problem will finally come to an end.
