I just bought a new computer, need help

Hi, I just pounced on a new Dell desktop last week and it was delivered today. I would like to transfer all my mp3s and the like over to my new machine. Burning them to CD is not available due to older computer breaking down. Can I use a USB cable to transfer the files? Or is there some other method? Thanks.

You could use a crossover network cable and than transfer the files.

why not just take out the old hd, set it as slave (or CS, depending on current configuration), and drop it into the new pc?

I got the cable and connected the computers but I couldn't figure it out. Do I need to be using the old computer(meaning using the monitor/keyboard) to send to new computer or use the new one to get stuff from the old one?

both machines are running xp
I changed the IP addresses to 192.168.10.1 and 192.168.10.2

the number 2 machine recognizes the connection but the new one #1 does not
