Extract What Is In An .EXE Without Running It?

I found a self-extracting screensaver (or maybe .pps file?) someone sent me a long time ago. There are some pictures in it that I want, but I can't figure out how to get to them. This person doesn't have the pictures anymore, and can't remember what they used to create the slideshow.

Even if I could just see what files are within the .exe I might be able to do a search on the picture names within my archive (which would probably be something like 00040594305.jpg of something), but I am pretty much positive that I don't have them.

Any ideas?

winrar only unzips archives...

the exe was compiled with the jpegs as built-in resources, meaning the names of the original jpegs are most likely not in the actual exe (only bytes of the jpeg). I don't think there's an easy way to extract them. Maybe you can do a screen capture while the screensaver is running?

I tried to do a screen capture, but it doesn't work. Oh well, I guess I am stuck. If anyone has any other suggestions, let me know.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.
