April Windows Updates - Are there Problems or is it me?

I downloaded and installed the April Windows updates this morning (after backing up my system) and noticed that Windows Explorer was real wonky afterwards, to the point of non-response and having to kill it. Basically, if I tried to expand a drive's contents from the left frame, the + sign would go away and the cursor would act like it's busy thinkin'. I was still able to access stuff from the right side, but it was slow and a pain to do.

Not know which update might've caused this, I restored my system to pre-updates and everything is back to normal. I'm not sure if I want to just jump right back and try again, so I thought I'd see if anyone else has had any problems with the April updates. Thanks in advance for any assistance and helpful comments.

I put the new updates on two laptops - both 2K and XP. Didn't have any problems.

Looks like the patch is the problem according to this article:

ah HA! Thanks for that link! That's pretty much what I was experiencing. I'm not sure I care for MS's resolution though ...

I was having problems with Firefox after installing these updates...I just restored and things are back to normal. Sucks when a company tries to help by releasing updates that FUBAR your computer...

My cousin applied the April updates, restarted her computer, and it froze. She had to manually power down, then the computer would not start back up normally; she got the menu asking her if she wanted to go into Safe Mode. In every mode (normal or safe or other), the computer would freeze.

I don't know exactly what caused this but ... I couldn't help her much because I'm in NJ and she's in CA ... and long story short, she ended up removing the HD, using an external enclosure to remove all her vital data, then reformatting/reinstalling. At least she knew how to do that.

Thanks X. I was having the same problem as Bronkster and the registry edit worked like a charm.

Or you can remove it from Add/Remove programs as I found out shortly after my last post.

Glad I'm not the only one. I had to do a restore to get my explorer to work. Sheesh.
