Windows Update Auto-Reboot - Recover unsaved files??

ugh. woke up this morning to find that my computer had been rebooted thanks to a lovely windows update (side question - can i keep automatic updates ON and disable this silly auto-reboot thing??).

anyways, i had a few open text docs that i hadn't save. any chance these can be recovered somewhere (running XP Pro)?? or am i SOL?

I feel your pain. The same thing has happened to me a few times with open Photoshop documents, etc. I was completely screwed. If it was a Word document, Word should be able to recover it. Doubtful if it was a Notepad .txt document.

Why not just not leave unsaved documents opened? Why are you doing that anyway? What if the power went out?
