Does Hyper Threading look like 2 separate cpus to software?

I've had a suspicion for a while, since [email protected] says I have 2 processors, and tonight I noticed in the task manager that windows has 2 cpu graphs. I also checked device manager and it has 2 Pentium 4s listed.
dxdiag also says 2 cpus

eh, I wouldn't call it a scam, but it's definitely not the equivalent of 2 physical CPU's or cores. The second logical CPU supposedly allows the single physical CPU to be used more efficiently, but it's mostly pretty marginal. In most instances, it seems to show a very slight (ie barely noticeable) improvement and there are many cases where it doesn't help at all and at least a few notables intances (MySQL being one of them) where it actually significantly hurts performance.
