Need help syncing Motorola RAZR v3c with Power Mac G5

I just purchased a Motorola RAZR cell phone and would like to sync it up to my Power Mac G5. I do NOT have bluetooth enabled on my computer so I must figure out a way to use the mini-USB port provided on the phone. I have connected the phone to my computer with a mini-USB cable but the computer does not seem to recognize it.

My intentions are to sync up my contacts and calendar with my phone as well as transfer pictures from my cell phone to my cpu and transfer homemade ringtones from my computer to my cell phone.

I have scoured the web for any relevant information and forum people always resort to bringing up the bluetooth capabilities of the phone with Macs. I have no intention of purchasing a bluetooth dongle or anything of the sort.

Please let me know any information that you have and if anyone out there has a RAZR and a Mac and knows how to sync 'em up, help me out!

Thanks to anyone and everyone in advance!

I use a free version of this that I "found" somewhere a few months back when I got my razr.

I've had a lot of luck with it. There may be a freeware version out there somewhere.

this place will have a lot of discussion:

So are those my only options? I really had wished that I would be able sync my phone and my G5 via USB without any extra software or having to break down and buy a bluetooth dongle.

To the above poster, once I get the bluetooth adapter (any links to the best ones?), how do I sync everything up then? Will the bluetooth exchange application recognize my phone when I try to search for devices? And how easy is it to transfer photos, ringtones, contacts, etc. after that?

Thanks for the help.

Get the D-Link USB Bluetooth adapter. That one is officially supported by Apple. Any other adapters, you will get sketchy or no support. And by no support, I mean, it won't work.

Thanks for your input. I'm gonna go with the D-Link Bluetooth USB Adapter. But before I buy, does anyone know how simple/difficult it will be to transfer information (pics, contacts, etc.) from my phone to my computer once the D-Link is plugged in and the Bluetooth Exchange app recognizes my RAZR? Is it a simple drag and drop kinda thing or do I have to run some sorta crazy applescript to get it all working?

There's a program in your Utilities folder called Bluetooth File Exchange or something like that, that makes it very easy to browse/transfer files, once you're paired up with the phone. It's also accessible from the Bluetooth icon in your menubar (if you've turned that on).
