What Wireless Router should I get if I am running Optimum online

What Wireless Router should I get if I am running Optimum online and my laptop has a built in 802.11 wireless card (xp)?

I know this is a simple question, and I did some searches but they seemed to talk about cable and DSL options etc.

I also have another computer that is older (running 2000 and is not wireless ready)

I'd rather ask here - and I don't want to ask at Best Buy or one of those stores.

I've been using a Linksys WRT54G for several years without too many problems. There are some bad reviews of the latest version though.

A few weeks I bought a D-Link router for family and it's pretty good. My advice is to save cash and buy a plain 54mbps router unless your wireless card supports some of the newer tech, which it probably doesn't.

Any wireless router will work. It's been my experience that brand names don't really matter. They all suffer from the same problem of having to reset the power once in a while.

Really? Anyone else have this problem? In the past four years, I have never had this problem. Not once.

I get connection problems a few times a week, but that's due to other access points near me. Good solution is to check for firmware updates every few months.
