Booting into Windows XP Automatically without a login screen?

Hi All,

Looking for a way to boot into Win XP automatically w/o entering a password at the login screen. I turned the welcome screen off, however, i still get a login prompt - I'd like to get rid of this.

Thanks

How to automatically log on to a user account in Windows XP :

Note This process only works if the computer is not joined to a domain.

Requirements

The Welcome screen must be available
There must be only one user account on the computer
The user account must not have a password

This is a registry fix that can allow the PC to boot up so you don't have to enter a pw, just like Windows 98, but for security reasons, it's always better to enter a password to start Windows.

If you don't want to manually change the registry and still want a password protected account, you can get TweakUI from Microsoft and change the autologin settings from there.

1. Click Start, click Run, and type control userpasswords2.

2. Clear the Users must enter a username and password to use this computer check box.

3. Click Apply.

4. Enter the user name and password you wish to automatically log on with, and then click OK.

The tweakui from microsoft, allows you to store a password.
