ok, this is weird, I need help MSN chat / windows gurus

I got a new comp about 2 months ago and posted here for help on deleting the old MSN instant messaging program so that the new one I downloaded (7.5 at the time) would be the default one. I got help for that, so thank you.

Now, 2 months later, as of yesterday, I can't log into MSN Messenger. So, 2 full days later, it's still the same but it gets weird. you know how a little window pops up on the bottom right corner when your friend logs on? Well, it's been popping up all day...but i'm not logged on anywhere I can see. Also, the new MSN 7.5's little window shows icons, but this one shows only names like old MSN messenger program i thought I had deactivated. THEN a person I know messages me, but I can't even see my list and it's the old MSN messenger window. His text window just popped up out of nowhere.

So, my guess is maybe one of my windows updates half-turned the old messenger back on, but I went to check and it still looks deactivated. Anyways, this is friggin annoying since I can't log into MSN (well, apparantly somehow i'm logged in, but I can't see it at all anywhere).

HELP!! PLEASE!
