can my computer overheat?

can my computer overheat?

I purchased a new desk for the holiday and it has a CPU cabinet on the side...problem is besides the front and the top(small hole) for wires it gets hotter then hell in there...

is this ok?

Yes it can overheat and no it's not ok. It should have room for air to flow in and out of the case. But it also depends on what kind of computer it is. Is it a big name computer like a Dell or a Gateway? If it is then more than likely it only has one tiny fan in it so it probably wasn't getting airflow in the first place so I wouldn't worry about it.

the only way is to cut through the side with a jig.
