problem with bluegears (c-media 8768+) sound card

OK, so a few weeks of use and the audio seems to drop for about 2 secs every 30 mins or so - doesn't matter what I'm doing, if I'm watching a DVD or playing music or playing a game, or if it's analog or SPDIF out to my receiver. I've tried changing drivers and fiddling with mixer settings, changing hardware accel.. everything I could think of, but no go. And it also seems to crash Civilization IV after 5 mins into it - I'm pretty sure this is also from the sound card as nothing else has changed on my PC.
