Viedo Card Problem

The Problem: Has major problems running 3D display. Often crashes back to desktop or even to reboot. It still displays just fine 1042x768 and higher, mpeg playback works just fine, just any 3D stuff does not work.

I doubt it's a driver/windows/app issue since everything is up-to-date and rolling drivers back did not work either.

Should I be looking for a new card?

WinXP SP2, ATI X550/600 128MB. The system is about 6 months old and nothing has changed hardwarewise since the initial build.

I say uninstall the drivers then reinstall the drivers, it couldn't hurt and if it doesn't fix it you can rule that out for sure.

OK, to respond to both.

1. That was one of the first things I tried.

2. Yes, the fan is running.

Well, I'm pretty sure the 3D processing of the card is hosed. I d/l'd 3DMark05 and it crashed after 10 seconds. I did notice that it was processing 3D displays, but at onlt 10 fps.
