Problems configuring Windows Media Player

Ok, this is making me mad. I have Windows Media Player set to play Cd's, audio and video content I find online (of course, except for Real and Quicktime stuff)...

When I put a DVD into my computer, I get the usual prompt asking what I want to do. No matter what I select, Windows Media opens up, then tells me it cannot play the DVD. All other DVD programs I have will not work except for Media Player Classic.

I go into options on Windows Media Player, and select File Types, uncheck DVD Video. Hit Apply and OK. Eject and reinsert DVD. Windows Media again attempts to play disc, fails. I go back into options, box that I unchecked is re-checked.

I have unchecked the box, hit apply, and ok, gone back into options without doing anything else, box is again re-checked.

GRRRRRRR!

What (if anything) can I do?

Thanks in advance,
