Computer crashed - slow recovery

My computer gave me a Corrupt Profile error when booting up yesterday and loaded only the basic Windows. I was able to create another profile and can access everything, but Windows is moving very very slowly now. I ran Ad-Aware and did a Disk Cleanup, but it's still at a crawl. What can I do to fix it? Thank you.

I didn't defrag yet, but...heh...how do I do those other things? Yes, I'm stoopid.

Be careful though. This may not solve the problem, and might actually make it worse. So, in other words, somebody say "DVD Polizei is right!".

I would say if you have anything of value to you on that hard drive, back it up now

Then go to the manufactuer of the drive and download their hard drive diag utility (if it is a dell you can get the dell diagnositcs and have them check the drive)

WD Data Lifeguard Tools 11 for Windows
will actually run on any brand drive, might be worth a quick check
