MPEG-2 codec!!!

Does anyone know of a link where I can get a good MPEG-2 codec that will allow me to play an MPEG-2 vid in Windows Media Player? Or is there one?

I believe Media Player Classic can play it natively (and is just a handy free media player all around)

Check out free-codecs.com. There is a GPL one and another called Stinky's MPEG2 Codec. I haven't tried either personally.

EDIT: just saw that HN's linked there for MPC too. I use MPC for most video stuff besides .wmv and DVD playback. Great program, Lightweight but very functional and a lot of options.

DScaler5 is free and amazing. ffdshow does MPEG2 decoding too and it too is free. nvidia purevideo has a 30 day trial, and it's definitely amazing.
