rip audio from a dvd

I have a live concert dvd that I want to turn the audio portion into a wav or mp3 of some kind. What would be the best program to use? How easy is it to do this?

Since we can't discuss ripping of DVD video or audio here the only way I know of is to either record the analog output from the DVD or use an application such as Total Recorder that intercepts the digital audio after it's been decoded by a software DVD player.

There are other threads in here that have discussed apps such as Total Recorder.
