Newbie question about Ipod Video

Ive never owned an ipod but Im thinking of finally getting an ipod video and was wondering if it allows you to fast forward and rewind through music and videos ?

also i hear it scratches easily ? is this true or just the usual internet community blowing things out of all proportions

Thanks

Yes, it allows you to fast forward and rewind, quite easily.

As far as the scratching, I always have my iPod in a case, so I don't know.

Thanks, so you can fast forward through videos too ?

DO you have to format the drive when you get it ? Does it ever need to be defragged ?

The ipod comes with a set up disc that you will need to run when you first get it. I don't think it formats the drive but it will check to make sure you have the most current firmware.

I've never defragged any of my ipods so I don't know. iTunes has a weird layout for saving songs so it may manage that itself.

And yes, the iPod video will scratch easy if its not in a case. Every iPod since day one has scratched easy. The only exception was the ipod mini.

Apple specifically recommends that iPods not be defragmented.
