probably firefox
firefox routinely balloons up to a couple megs of RAM being used by it
just checked. it's at 176MB right now. And that's with the memory cache manually set to be something like 24 or 32, can't remember for sure what I set it to, migt even be lower than that

You can also scan your PC for spyware, malware, adware, or a virus? That often times causes the problem you are describing.

What is your Total Committed when Windows start? Sometimes when you open/use applications, they tend to use some pagingfile for caching instead of physical RAM only even though you have enough physical RAM. The problem is that some applications when they closes, the pagingfile caching does not get clear.
