Crystal Reports and DBF tables

MIS is blasting me for using Crystal Reports on DBF tables instead of Bandit Reports. (Yeah has anyone even HEARD of bandit??)

They claim my reports are crashing the server, and thus the system everyone else uses to work.

Are they full of poop, or should I tuck my tail between my legs?

Any suggestions on how to keep from crashing the system?
