Yup, if you go to the apple site, the mini is gone.

If anyone was wondering, it is flash based, not a hard drive. I hadn't found anywhere that said one way or another. I had to dig through the tech specs on Apple's page to find out.

Yep, flash based. From http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/specs.html :

2GB or 4GB flash drive(1)
...
Stores data via USB flash drive
So it's jogging safe at least. That's an improvement.

Just saw this on their site. That thing is sweet looking. Probably means I can get a deal on a mini soon.

This is part of the Samsung deal. They are apparently able to offer Apple Flash drives at the same prices as the 4GB hard drives from Toshiba. Considering they dropped the color screens in them from the photos and that you can jog without worry this is a great deal for $199 and $249.

If Apple would had released this last week, I would have bought one when I was in Boston.

Anyways, I think it looks much better than the Mini. Good job Apple.

Thing claims 14 hours of playback time, or 4 in slideshow mode (whatever that is).

It has photo ability so you can watch photo slideshows while listening to music. This drops the battery much faster though hence the 4 hours when doing it.

a few more GBs and i'm in. Not worried right now about running with the mini, haven't had any skipping problems so i'll be compelled once capacity is bumped a bit.

As anti-ipod as I am, the Nano is really impressive. I'm actually considering of getting one. I still wish they offer an FM radio with it.

Why is that? It's slimmer and attractive, but just because iPod's don't offer an FM radio, people don't want them? Last time I checked, everything but NPR is terrible on FM. Not sure why everyone is THAT amazed by this version, the iPod was always great to me.

Definitely nifty looking.

Having a screen is great is a great improvement over the Shuffle. But no FM and no (I believe) recording function kill it still for me as I use those features a good deal on my MuVo.

Wow. That is cool. I have a mini, so I don't really need one, and yet.....I must have one.

I also have a 60 gb ipod photo and find the photo part to be pretty useless, but it is a nice screen.
