Simple excel question

for excel, say you have numbers like this your spread sheet

1
2
3
4

How do you select the rest of the cells below that to make it auto fill in 5,
6, 7, 8, etc

instead of typing them all out

Easy.

Just put 1 and then 2 right underneath. Then highlight both cells at the same time. You will notice that the lower right corner of the highlighted area looks different. Like this:

Click on that corner (your cursor should turn into a '+' sign when you are in the right spot), and drag it down for as many as you need.

This also works with full dates, months, days of the week, etc.

It also recognizes patterns. Like if I start with 1, 3 then it will give me odd numbers.

You also don't need to start at '1'.

Highlight the cell with 4 in it (you'll see a little box appear in the lower right corner of the cell).
Hold down the Ctrl key, and put the cursor over the little box (you'll see a little + sign appear).
Holding down the Ctrl key, and pressing the left mouse button, drag down for as many cells as you would like.
