Smart Playlists on 1st Gen. iPods?

Hey all,

Are there any updates/patches, etc that will give 1st Gen. iPods the ability to make play lists on-the-fly? I don't see why a simple software patch wouldn't be able to add this feature....

Thanks,

Matt

Have you installed the latest firmware from Apple? http://www.apple.com/ipod/download

I think it supports the On-The-Go playlists in all iPod versions.

Hey,

Yea, I have the newest firmware installed, thanks. So, maybe there's some limitation to the 1st Gen that won't allow it to support playlists on-the-go. You would think that a software update could take care of it though...

Oh well..

Thanks guys,

Matt

You're right, it's called Apple's profit margins.

The only new features they add to old iPods are to support new versions of iTunes or products bought from their music store. Anything else will be left out to entice you to "upgrade" to a newer iPod.

I could have swore that they added this functionality to the whole line in a software update several months ago. I know that they added the multiple-OTG functionality to 3rd Gen iPods a while back, I thought they had tried to unify the functionality in that same update. Oh well.
