iPod Question?

Is it possible to transfer your music from your iPod to the iTunes library?

For example, I bought a new computer and installed iTunes but my music library is empty now. How do I get my music from my iPod to the newly installed iTunes without erasing any songs from my iPod?

Hope that makes sense.

Check out a program called iPod Agent. It has a free trial period in which you can transfer all your songs from your iPod back to your computer. If you want to keep the program, it costs $15 after the trial period.

The same way you get ALL your data files, email, etc, over to a new pc. Burn them to CD or DVD.

Simplest way, using no additional software:

1. Run the Task Manager, switch to the processes tab.
2. Kill iPodService.exe, iTunes.exe, and iTunesHelper.exe, if they're running.
3. Attach the iPod. iTunes will NOT run. The iPod will show up as a drive letter in My Computer.
4. Go to that drive, and enable viewing of hidden files and folders in the Folder Options.
5. Find the ipod_control folder. Open it.
6. Find the music folder. Open it.
7. In here, there's between 20-99 folders, with names like f43 and so forth. These folders contain all your music, in a rather random unsorted fashion. Just copy all these folder off the iPod and onto the computer somewhere.
8. When done, go back to My Computer, right click the iPod drive, and select "Eject" to safely eject the iPod.
9. Run iTunes and drag all your music folders into the Library.
