Mini Ipod vs. Sony PSP, who's the winner here?

I recently got my wife the Ipod Mini. It was a pain in my opinion to add music to it. She loves it and has around 400 songs at the moment. I tell her it sucks. I've got my PSP with episodes of the family guy, trailers, music videos, pictures, like 100 songs, plus games and umd movies. You only drag & drop files via usb rather than having to install software. Wife disagrees. Of course the Ipod has better sound, but for a couple of bucks you can get a cool portable entertainment center. I've got 2.0 upgrade installed with a 1 gig memory card.

1. Wrong forum
2. If your wife is happy with her iPod Mini and you are happy with your PSP, I don't think there's an issue there except for you worrying about it

I have no problem with my ipod mini. Like any software, it takes a few minutes to learn it. I don't have it to watch video, so that doesn't really matter, plus I wouldn't want to spend the money on the PSP plus their proprietary memory which is crazy spendy.

I would rather (and do) have a PSP, but it ends up being more expensive because you have to pay a good amount for large memory card.

How is it hard to add music to the ipod?

if you have an mp3 on your hard drive, double click on it and its in your itunes. drag, drop, or synchronize. Okay, after reading your post again, you do have to install itunes, but that program is well worth the 3 clicks to install it.

Similarity is they can play music & they're portable. Differences are plenty, but I was less than impressed with the Ipod.

If you have difficulty running iTunes, you should take your toaster into the bathtub with you and hope you come back reincarnated as someone with some intelligence

I think its great to take my PSP with me to the Gym to work out, It's so compact and small.

You are out of your gourd.

You will be bored of the PSP in about 6 months, I've had an Ipod for about 3 years now, well each generation of them and I'd be lost without it.

The Ipod is like Tivo. Groundbreaking

For starters, why would I want Itunes in my computer? I use Winamp or Realplayer. That's my concern, that I don't get to choose the software to install mp3's on the Ipod or even drag & drop them to the Ipod hard drive. Remember I'm new to the gadget so these are first impressions.

P.S. I don't have a toaster or a bathtub, please advise.

Using Itunes is simple and very very effective. Why make it more difficult?

If you just want it to play music, get an Ipod (or a Dell DJ, Rio, etc.).

If you want to play music, but also games, movies, etc., get a PSP.

For strictly music playback, a dedicated hard drive player is clearly better. 1) you have much more storage space for music (until someone makes a 5 gig + Memory Stick Pro Duo, and imagine how much THAT would cost), 2) better battery life (at least compared to the Dell DJ, I can't vouch for the Mini's battery life), and 3) better portability... I wouldn't take my PSP jogging.

If you don't like Itunes, you can get alternate software from Red Chair. I did this for my Dell DJ because it comes with MusicMatch, which I can't stand for the same reasons I can't stand Itunes.
