Spyware - unable to remove .dll

For a while now I have been getting different popups, and never really tried to get rid of it, I've had winfixer, but that looks like its gone away, now a new couple have taken its place.

I'm pretty sure its the libps.dll, and I can't remove the bugger.
Tried Killbox, and it can't get it.

Images are hosted on my webspace..

Win Anti Spyware.com pops up like this.

Then a new webpage redirects me to here

http://www.winantispyware.com/pages/scanne...n&ex=1&p=1&ax=2

The other more common one is the following.

a webpage comes up with this image, and starts searching..

Then I get the request to redirect.

And while I Was doing this I got another new popup..

http://adserver.softwareonline.com/AdServe...l.exe&Scroll=No

Search and Destroy comes up clean.

I also d/led ewido, and it did find a couple of stray dll's
c:\windows\Config\msdoc.dll
and
c:\windows\systerm32\fejxrykl.dll

and it quarantined them.

Attached is my hijackthis.

Thanks

Robert (bdb)

Close HJT
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\WINDOWS\system32\ and delete the folder "dla"
Close Windows Explorer

Reboot the PC

Please Run HJT with no unneccsary programs running such as
OUTLOOK
Internet Explorer
Windows Explorer
MS WORD
MS paint
iTunes
(you had these items running on your 1st log.) Makes the log bigger and harder to read among other things.

Just a note, on the 1st Internet Explorer "security" box pic, NEVER click "yes" or "no". If anything click on the "X" in the upper right hand corner.

Post a new log. please

It would help if you close your application when you post hijackthis log. But from your log, delete these value:

O2 - BHO: C:\WINDOWS\system32\fejxrykl.dll - {405132A4-5DD1-4BA8-A181-95C8D435093A} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\fejxrykl.dll (file missing)

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {780916B6-00F4-484C-8AF7-A69CEAE0736B} - C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\libps.dll

Re-post your log after you delete the key, and make sure you run as few applications as possible.

EDIT: ah well. shelby beat me to it. With a better reply too.

Make sure you have "show all files and folders" enabled in Windows Explorer and
Know how to boot into SafeMode
Instructions are in the Spyware/Popup Sticky (in my sig)

Boot Into SafeMode
When in SafeMode, go to Start>run and type in
regsvr32 /u libps.dll
Press Enter, you should get a DllUnregister Server libps.dll Succeeded message

Open HJT and fix these 2 items, if present

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {780916B6-00F4-484C-8AF7-A69CEAE0736B} - C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\libps.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: libps - C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\libps.dll

Close HJT

Open Windows Explorer and Navigate to the C:\WINDOWS\Fonts folder

Located and delete, if found, libps.dll
Empty the contents of your Windows Temp Folder (Start>Run>%temp%>press OK) and your Temporary Internet Files folder
Re-boot

Run a new HJT log and view it to make sure those 2 lines are not present.

If no joy, try MoveOnBoot

neither of those worked.

the unreg dll gave me 2 different errors, one that it couldn't find it and sometimes
a 0x80070005 which appears to be permissions related, so I changed the perms on the registry keys, and still no good.

I can delete the registry keys, but it just re-registers on startup.

the moveon also did not work.

If you don't recoginise any of these items( I don't and they look suspicious), make HJT fix them:
They could be working in conjunction with the 2 libps.dll entries, causing the file to come back.

O16 - DPF: {70647AB5-18FD-4142-82B0-5852478DD0D4} (Keynote Connector Launcher) - http://xms.keynote.com/applications...torLauncher.cab

Also, of course,
O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {780916B6-00F4-484C-8AF7-A69CEAE0736B} - C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\libps.dll

O20 - Winlogon Notify: libps - C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\libps.dll

Try to first:
Fix the HJT items per above, then disable the BHO by the instructions below:
I think this Manage Add-Ons list is only available in SP2, which you are running

You can disable this BHO thru IE>Tools>Internet Options>Programs tab>Manage Add-Ons button>in the "show field", make sure you have "Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer" enabled.
It will takes a few seconds to get the file list. When it does, look on the far right for the "libps.dll" and then highlight on the far left under the "name" list.
When highlighted, select the "Disable" radio button. Click the Message Box about re-starting IE and then Click OK to exit
Exit IE
Then,
Were you able to see the file "libps.dll" in the C:\WINDOWS\Fonts folder with Show all Files and Folders enabled"?
If so, find the file and right click and Select "Properties", under the "general" Tab, at the bottom, make sure that "read only" is un-checked in the attributes section. Then Click OK
Try to delete the file

Re-Boot

What registry keys are you referring to?

keynote, pinecone, and invoke are all legit.

hjackthis won't remove 02 and 020 so I'll work on disabling the BHO as you stated tonight
thanks

reg keys, I searched in the reg for libps.dll
I cannot see it, but I can see it in dos, so can use attrib to change the perms.
Did not think of read only on the file..

k perms on the file are fine, it's not hidden etc.

Disabling the Browser add-in stopped the popups, but I still can't remove either the file, or the
