Connecting DVD Player to LCD Monitor

I just bought Samsung HD850 upconversion DVD Player (with DVI output).
I want to connect it directly to my LCD Monitor (Sony HS series with DVI input).

For some movies, it plays without any problems.
But for some(DVD Movies from Blockbuster), it only has sound, no video.
My LCD goes just blank after samsung logo when it's supposed to play the movie.

Has anyone experienced simlar problem while directly connecting dvd player to lcd monitor?

This is very weird because some dvds play well, but some don't
any insights will be appreciated.
Thanks!!

aweeeee those movies that it is doing it on are they older movies? i know for a fact that on my sony lcd monitor gets strange sometimes on older movies that are forced to interlace and the monitor is 5:4 instead of 4:3 so sometimes it gets goofy on that as well.
i'd check the setup of your monitor and dvd player to make sure everything is matching, it just sounds like it is going out of range for the monitor to work with so it just goes "retarded" to keep itself from breaking.

Shouldn't the LCD always be receiving the same signal, no matter what's played? It's always going to be progressive, isn't it? And I can't imagine why the aspect ratio would make a difference.

Are you using the DVI interface and upconverting?

hmm

Thanks for the reply.

I am using the DVI interface.
Do I have to do something special to enable the "upconversion"?
Isn't it already enabled by default?
