Comcast Cable Internet - slow lately? (Chicago area)

Comcast Cable Internet - slow lately? (Chicago area)

I've had Comcast Cable for my internet connectivity for about three years, and up until about 3 weeks ago everything had been fine.

I've experienced a large number of complete "outages" (modem lights off, then on, flashing in all sorts of patterns), but so have have some of my neighbors, so I'm fairly sure it's not just my connection. There have also been more staggeringly slow periods (almost frozen) - and though the modem lights indicate everything is ok - pages never load, etc.

Just wondering if this is more wide spread than just my neighborhood, or is this part of some area-wide system upgrade.

I get too frustrated calling Comcast - and I never feel like any of the phone ops have a clue about anything...

Their rolling out the 6.0/8.0 upgrades to the silver and gold tiers and I'd heard there had been some problems like that in the week or so before people saw their new speeds.

So if you haven't got upgraded yet that could be it.
