Help!! CD Burner won't read except in Itunes

The problem is that my cd drive detects cds but it detects all of them as new cds regardless of whether they are or not. But if I open Itunes, the burner works like usual. But right now, I want to write a data CD, not a music CD.

I've had this problem and I solved it last time by deleting some registry keys that Burning Nero had installed on my computer. But I haven't been using Burning Nero for a year now (I'm using Roxio Easy CD creator). And I forgot what I deleted last time. Anybody have any clues?

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

What operating system? Are you referring to the "upperfilters" and "lowerfilters" registry keys?

Win XP. I believe that those upperfilter/lowerfilter terms are what I was referring to. But I don't really know for sure.

Those 2 filter keys typically keep the CD/DVD-ROM's from appearing, usuallyin Windows Explorer.
The key is at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Right click on each and select Delete. Make sure you backup the key first via File>Export and save as a reg file.
