Comcast download speed increase?

I just noticed that right now I am downloading at 6 Mbps instead of the usual 4 Mbps. Anyone else?

From what I saw on the website ordering info, the 6.0 speed is $10 more. At least for new subscribers apparently.

Found the real info here.

6.0 is $10 more than the 4.0 plan for internet only users and 8.0 $20 more.

If you have cable tv and internet with them you'll get upgraded to 6.0 at no cost and can go up to 8.0 for $10 more.

For high-speed customers who eschew Comcast cable TV service, upgrading to downstream speeds of 6Mbps or 8Mbps will cost $10 and $20 more per month, respectively.

Those subscribers who also take cable TV service will be automatically upgraded to 6Mbps service for free and there will be no new software to download. These customers can also move to the 8Mbps offering for $10 more per month.

how do you detect your downloading speed? is there an online test or do you have to download something and note the speed then?

There are lots of online tests. Here's a few.
