First time laptop buyer......have questions.

I've never bought a laptop before.....

1) Which is better? Pentium M (725<735<740) processor or a Pentium 4 532 with HT?

2) Which is better? DDR SDRAM or DDR SODIMM?

On a laptop, I think Pentium M is better because it consumes less power, thus your battery will last longer and generates less heat so the fans spin less and you can tolerate the fan noise. And the performance is almost same as the desktops.
The memory depends on the models of the laptop. You cannot use uncompatible memory on a laptop. It is says it can accept DDR2 SDRAM then you cannot use other memory.Think the latest memory like DDR2 SDRAM is much better.Even the Dell XPS models use those!
