Sharing Outlook Express?

I recently set up a wireless network in my house. Is there a way to share the outlook mailbox as well, so I can check my email on the laptop (wireless) anyplace, but still have the messages resident on the desktop (wired)?

If I configure outlook express on the laptop to look in the folder on on the desktop, then would anything I do remotly also occur on the desktop?

Would that risk opening up my email to anyone who puts forth a bit of effort? I am using 128 bit WEP on my network, and there are 2 other unprotected networks in my general area.

One last bump. I want to be able to check my email on my laptop and have it remain resident on the desktop.

Can I just share the general folder on my desktop, or is this not safe. I am not really sending/receiving confidential information, but just don't want some personal info stole.

Any help or suggestion of where to find the answer will greatly be appreciated.
