Firefox 1.0.6 problems

Alright, everyone, problems with my favorite browser abound. I just DLed and installed the latest version of Firefox (1.0.6), upgrading from 1.0.4. I uninstalled 1.0.4 before installing 1.0.6.

Once I tried to run the latest version I can't get it to load anything. I adjusted my settings in my Norton Firewall, allowing for this program to have access to the Internet. I've tried running in safe-mode as well, but no dice. Are other people having this problem with the latest update, or is it just me?

I'm running XP sp2, by the way. THanks in advance.

try uninstalling and reinstalling...i had the same problem for 1.4 until i did that...my guess is that something went wrong with the installation and maybe a file is corrupted or missing.

if you uninstall and have a bunch of themes and plugins it leaves them behind. installing over top of them can mess something up.

start firefox in safe mode and uninstall the themes and plugins one by one until it opens normally. or just uninstall of them and reinstall them into 1.06 and you should be set.

1.06 crashed repeatedly on me, as did the short-lived and ill-fated 1.05. Some kind of compatibility problem with Roboform, even with the latest updates of each. I went back to 1.04 and everything works fine now.

It's not a matter of it crashing...it's a matter of it not loading pages. When I close it all, it stays on my Task Manager. I simply uninstalled it and reinstalled 1.0.4, and I haven't had any problems since then. Thanks for the help, though.

I upgraded to 1.06 over 1.05 (did not uninstall) on 3 systems, so far so good.

Uninstall does not give you a "clean" install of the new operating system because the extensions are all still present, with files in the Application Data directory. It'd be better to just upgrade.

I'm having the exact same problem, and I've tried everything. I uninstalled all the themes and extensions, then uninstalled 1.0.4 and deletd the folder that was left in the programs folder. Nothing helps. Neither 1.0.5 or 1.0.6 will run on my computer. The most recent version that will run is 1.0.4.

I'm running Windows XP Pro with SP2 and all recent updates.
