Editing MP3 Files - Simple Question

I am trying to make a mixtape of songs and one particular track has a three minute song followed by a four minute section of dialogue.

I have the file in Music Match. Basically, how can I edit out these last four minutes so that only the song remains? Is there a free program that I can download that will allow me to do this?

BTW, I tried searching for this but was not exactly sure what to search for. A link to an existing thread would be appreciated.

Use the demo of Goldwave. www.goldwave.com You won't have to buy it to do this and you can delete it afterward. It is an excellent tool for this kind of editing. I bought this program years ago and have gotten a lot of use out of it.

I would not use Goldwave for this editing because it will require the song to be reencoded, which will create a loss in quality.

Use MP3DirectCut (google for it) whenever you need to edit MP3's directly. No reencoding = no quality loss.

If you have Nero, just drag the existing audio file into the template, right click the file and choose properties. Go to the "splits" tab at the top.
Leave the beginning of the file at 00:00 and choose the end marker to be right where the dialog starts. When you burn the file, it will ignore the dialog. No wasting time with other software and no re-encoding necessary.
