Best DIARY or JOURNAL software?
My wife wants to keep a diary/journal/keep track of things happening on a date...
What's the best software out there? There seem to be many, but nothing "leads the pack" that I can tell.

Not sure if your wife is looking for an online journal or what not, but livejournal.com has a free journal that seems to be pretty popular these days...

Offline software - it's not meant as a blog, but more as an electronic diary.

Here's some that you might want to take a look at:
Advanced Diary
Diary Defender
The rest of these label themselves more as personal information managers (PIMs) with journaling as one of their capabilities.
Desk Buddy Lite
TreePad Lite
KeyNote
Hopefully, one of these will meet your wife's needs. Good luck.

I can not find the one I really liked but DiaryDominator at http://www.waseo.de/en/Products/Free...y1/diary1.html looks pretty good.
I tried many of these things but just like the old way of using pen and pad. However, it never fails that some chick will read it and piss me off. Not that I wouldn't let them if they asked but they never do.
Anyway here are the features
DiaryDominator is a powerful diary program, which provides a function for changing wallpapers additionally. Every day can be assigned to a text, different icons for mood, weather and health and more information. As a matter of fact, encryption (Blowfish procedure) is supported. Furthermore DiaryDominator offers some features that are often not included in other programs:
* Richtext, Bitmap and JPEG support
* Diary- and wallpaper print list
* Hyperlink and eMail-link support
* Can be sent to system-tray
* External editors can be used
* Infobox for repetitive input
* Free color and font selection
* Detailed help file
