Anyone know anything about UPS's?

As in "Uninterruptible Power Supplies?"

I have a couple servers hooked into UPS's. Actually, I have a big Liebert UPS with several servers connected to it. When the power goes out, it keeps them running for 30 minutes or so. Cool. But now I want to go the next step and have the servers SHUT DOWN when the power is off for x minutes. There are various software packages that will do this. You connect the server via serial cable or USB and they talk to one another.

Here is my question. This Liebert UPS I have has a single serial port. Does this mean I can only have this UPS talk to a single server? I also have a TrippLite UPS with a USB port. Can I connect this UPS to a single machine or is there someway to connect multiple machines to a single UPS? If not, do I need to buy a separate UPS for each server?

Some software, such as Belkin's, lets workstations get the UPS info from the server or another machine on the network and shutdown accordingly.
