why is this game so slow?

why is this game so slow?

ok.. i've decided to try and get into playing some games online.. i downloaded (legally) a game The Saga of Ryzom http://www.ryzom.com/


When I try to run it , it is horribly slow.. move the mouse.... take... for... ever....... i found their system requirements and i was hoping you could help me figure out if my system meets those requirements.. if not, what do i need to do? if they do meet it, what is going wrong? thanks in advance

The Games Requirements
OS : Windows 98/2000/XP
CPU : Pentium III 2 Ghz or equivalent
RAM : 512 Mo and higher
HD : with 5 Go freespace
CD-ROM : player x 4
nVidia : GeForce 4 with 128 Mo of RAM
DirectX 8 compatible sound card
ADSL Internet connection or equivalent


My Comp
OS: Windows 2000
CPU: Athalon XP 1800+
RAM :512 mb
HD: 10 gig+
graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440

Quick assumption is that its your video card. GeForce 4 MX is pretty poor.

can you recommend something that would be get me into 2005 that is relatively affordable?

$100 and it will run most everything (if you're conservative on the video settings). If you are gonna keep gaming though, you should look into more PC horsepower.
