Help: External Hard Drive Not Being Recognized

I have this USB external hard drive. I've had it for about a year now and its recognized as the H drive on my computer every time I turn it on.

Starting yesterday though, when I turn it on, a beep plays so my computer recognizes its on but when I go to My Computer, there's no H drive listed.

I run Windows XP

Would anybody know why?

Right click on "my computer" on your desktop, select "manage". Then select "disk management". This will show you all the harddisks that are connected to your computer (both internal and external). Most likely your external harddisk will show op here, but it has the same drive letter as another device in your computer (harddisk, CD-rom,...). Just change the drive letter on that external drive, and of you go!

Let us know of you have still problems.
