Service Pack II

Anyone experiencing problems with Service Pack II update on IE. It slowed down everything and I cant get in a couple of password sites. Made normal firewall and popup adjustments. Then took it out. Will my computer fall apart?

No problems on any of my home computers, at work we have a program called DSF that has a problem with SP-2 but that is the only problem I have had with it so far.

whoelse,

In essence, you can't acess a secure (https) site and you can acess the same site in non-secure form (http)?

Any error messages?

I've installed it on a few machines and all are working fine. I like the pop up blocker. Turning the firewall and updates on automatically is certainly a plus for the non savy folks out there who don't update their machines and don't protect themselves with the free firewall software. Now if it just did my laundry.

My roommate put this on his computer and it completely trashed it. It slowed it down immensely, some items simply won't open, programs won't appear in the taskbar, etc. I've put it one two machines at work and, other than making a few settings adjustments, have had no problems at all. It's your call. I should mention my roommate's machine is about four years old, and the work machines are about a year and a half old each.

My PC is over five years old, but had several upgrades done to it (CPU, memory, OS, etc.) I haven't run into any problems except when using Exact Audio Copy. I get an unusually high amount of "sync errors" that hadn't existed before, even for discs I had ripped in the past without incident. I'm using Audiograbber in its place for now.

Do you have an OEM computer (Dell, HP etc..)? If so, you may need a OEM update PRIOR to installing SP2.

On a client's computer (new HP), SP2 made his CD-RW drive unrecognized as a rewritable drive. I contacted Microsoft, got passed up the line by Tech Support. The next level admitted it's a known bug, Article ID: 883523, and sent me an unreleased hotfix. It didn't work.

Makes me feel like an involuntary beta tester...but aren't we all!

On the computer I am on now SP2 works fine but on my newer computer that was bought 2 months ago, the monitor light wont turn green, it just stays amber colored when the computer is turned on, I don't know if SP2 did it or its hardware failure but microsoft denied that it was SP2 when I talked to them. I can't uninstall anything since icant see the screen so I am sending my CPU back to the factory to get it fixed

Does your monitor have a DVI port? (what type of connection for the mointior do you have? I believe there was a thread discussing the type of situtation you have. Have you tried another monitor?

I have XP SP2 on three computers - two servers and my main machine, which sees both heavy (15 hrs/day average) and varied (Internet, Access database, programming, games) use.

No problem with any of them.

I don't think you can really say you have SP2 on a server since XP isn't a server OS.

I cannot access Suntrust's Internet Banking when I install SP2. I don't see any radical changes to my internet settings since installing SP2, so i am not exactly sure what the problem is.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Anyone experiencing any problems with file sharing programs (I can't get Kazaa or Limewire to work on SP2)?

The Old KazaaLite does NOT work anymore. You need to try Kazaa Lite Resurrection.
