external hd problem

I've purchased a 200 g seagate hd and have installed it into an external enclosure but when I plugged it in to use win xp recognizes it but there is no icon in the my computer folder for me to access it. Drive manager says the drive is working properly? Am I missing a step? Help.

Thanks

K, not very experianced in this sorta thing. But, how do you assign a drive letter to it? Shouldn't windows automatically do this? I was under the impression that you should be able to just plug and play...cause windows now all.

My system is upto date...running xp, have sp2 installed, the Reg48bitLBA utility is current yet drive is using full capacity What else do I ned to do?
