XP Home w/SP2: Control Center doesn't hold settings.

I recently installed SP2 on my XP Home system, and the 'control center' that has settings for Firewall, etc will not remember my settings.

I use ZoneAlarm Pro, so I don't want to use the XP firewall. If I check the box that says something to the effect of 'I have a firewall, I'll monitor it', but it only seems to stay checked until the next time I reboot.

Is there a way to to make my choices more permanent?

I'm getting tired of the the little balloon that pops up over my Start tray....
