Audio out to TV with 5.1 setup?

soundcard: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...102-166&depa=0

- Analog / Digital Out (Analog Center & Subwoofer / 5-channel SPDIF Output)
- Line In
- Microphone In
- Line Level Out(front)/Headphone Out
- Line Level Out(Rear)
- MIDI/Joystick port
- Telephone Answering Device In

I'm going to be purchasing a 5.1 speaker set soon and want to know if i will still be able to use the audio out(to go to my home stereo). i presently have it plugged into the line level out (black input) and it works for what i need it for(mostly TV shows). so will i be able to get 5.1 sound from my PC speakers but also output a signal to my home stereo?

Do you need 5.1 from PC speakers AND your home stereo? I'm sure it's possible, but it sounds like a pain in the butt.

If you're just connecting to your home stereo receiver and not using PC speakers, it should be simple. Either stick with the line level outputs (three of them now) or use the fancy digital output.

no i just need stereo. i think i'm good though because the (i guess its an equalizer?) has a headphone jack in it, which should give me the stereo out.

How will the speakers be connected? If your 5.1 speaker set uses a digital connection, you would just plug that into the S/PDIF output, and your stereo into the output for the front speakers.
