Comcast question

I just got Comcast internet on Sunday and have a quick question. Do I have to install the software they gave me or can I just plug my ethernet into the computer and surf away? I don't care to use Comcast for e-mail or web space.

Your MAC address on your cable modem has to be registered with Comcast, call the helpdesk they can take care of that for you. After that you plug it in and it should just pick right up.

Thanks. I was pretty sure I didn't need to install their (probably) clunky software, but just wanted to make sure.
