Cancer Causing Controller Cord?

i got a game control for my comp and on the cord it says "Warning handling the cord on this product will expose you to lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause [cancer, and] birth defects or other reproductive harm. wash hands after handling." Should i be worried about this? should i return the controller?

Unless your going to chew on it, I wouldn't be worried. Cant figure out why they would put lead in the cord though. Let me guess, Belkin?

Cords have always contained lead in them. It's just that California actually requires labels to tell you.

The wires are soldered to the pins on the end, and solder is a mixture of lead/tin. Also, the insulation is probably PVC.

CA is hyper about cancer causing chemicals. "Known to cause cancer" means "might have caused cancer in an animal force fed massive amounts of" I think is counterproductive, as you can't tell the difference between that and well known class A carcinogens as determined by the Feds.

However, you should be careful to not eat 100,000 of these cables. That could be dangerous.
